The Kharazmi Journal of Earth Sciences is a peer-reviewed journal that publishes original research and review articles in all fields of earth sciences. From 1977 to 2015, Kharazmi University (formerly Tarbiat Moallem University) published the Kharazmi Journal of Science, which covered all fields of basic science, including geology. The first issue of the journal was published in September 1977. With the permission of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance and the approval of the Scientific Publications Committee (Ministry of Science, Research and Technology), the Kharazmi Journal of Earth Sciences separated from the Kharazmi Journal of Sciences on January 28, 2015, and its first issue was published in the spring and summer of 2015. Since 2015, the Kharazmi Journal of Earth Sciences has been published biannually. The Kharazmi Journal of Earth Sciences was indexed in DOAJ and awarded the Grade A ranking by the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology (MSRT) of Iran in 2025. In 2026, the journal was further indexed in the international Scopus database. This journal is currently published in electronic form and is open access. Submitted articles are peer-reviewed anonymously by at least two to three experts. Accepted articles are published in Persian with English abstracts and extended abstracts. With the new editorial board, consisting of 10 local and 11 foreign members from nine different countries, the journal is expected to further consolidate and strengthen its international standing while creating the necessary foundation for the continued enhancement of its scientific quality and academic excellence.
