Abstract
Remote sensing is considered as a powerful tool for recognizing ground phenomenons, particularly in well exposed and low vegetation regions. Altered zones contain specific minerals, and in current research alteration assemblages (illite, kaolinite, goethite, hematite and jarosite) were recognized in Ozbak-Kuh area. Ozbak-Kuh with NE-SW trend is located in Central Iran zone in Kalmard faulted zone. ASTER image were used for discriminating ferruginous minerals and ferric hydroxide in the study area, using Log Residuals method as preprocess and Matched Filtering (MF) method for recognizing alteration and compiling alteration map. Comparison of alterations pattern with the main faults trends i.e.F1, F2 and F3 reveals their obvious concomitance. Field studies and measurements has shown that the strikes of these faults are parallel to Ozbak-Kuh NW-SE trend and their kinematic indicating a right lateral strike slip with reverse elements, which is similar to the Kalmard fault in the Central Iran. Our research shows the significant influence of the Kalmard fault zone on different phases of alterations in the Ozbak kuh area.
